Alex Whitlock will be leading the fieldwalk, setting off from Blind Lane, Higham, after the pre-walk meeting in Booths café , Barrowford, at 10.30am. The walk will go over the ridge and down into Sabden Valley and back again. The terrain will be uneven and stout footwear should be worn. A packed lunch/snack may be taken.

Lancashire’s oldest ancestral home, with our guide for the afternoon, award-winning author Linda Sawley. Please note most of the rooms on the tour are on the ground floor, with 3 rooms on the upper floor, which require climbing two flights of stairs. Wander through the ornamental gardens and take in the elegant interiors and treasure trove of antiquities collected over 14 generations. Tea and cream scones will be served in the Cart Shed Tearoom.
