Dr Tom Booth, a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist in the Skoglund Ancient Genomics Laboratory at The Francis Crick Institute, London and an Associate Lecturer in Later European Prehistory and Quantitative Archaeology at the UCL Institute of Archaeology will give a talk on

‘A Genetic Prehistory of Northern England: Insights from Ancient DNA‘.

Rapid advances in DNA sequencing technology have meant that over the last 15 years the ability to generate whole genome DNA data from ancient human remains has gone from extraordinary to routine. Tom will discuss what we have learned about the prehistoric societies of Britain through ancient DNA analysis of human skeletons, with a particular focus on sites from northern England.
