WHO LIVED ALONG GISBURN ROAD, BARROWFORD IN 1911?

Over the last few years, the “Friends” have used the 1911 census to research who lived along Gisburn Road, Barrowford at that time. “History” walks along the road from “The George and Dragon” to Newbridge established which actual properties had survived. We then had to link those properties with their occupants in 1911.
Friends of Barrowford Library supplied details of each entry on the census returns and these will be held, in a file, at the library so that even more information can be retrieved about each household.
Each house/business premise, which still exists, will be given a vinyl blue plaque which they will, hopefully display in their front window. Examples of some of the occupations are- Henry Lee – Tripe Dresser, Thomas Verity – Fried fish/potato peeler, Barnabus Faraday – Newspaper Correspondent, Isaac Morvillle – Clog Maker and Frank di Beeho Pim – Physician and Surgeon. Not everyone was a weaver although many were!
A CELEBRATION OF THE LIVES OF ORDINARY PEOPLE.
